Zucknet is my study project in creating a social network content management system using AJAX/JavaScript, and PHP.

The majority of the elements and computations are done using JavaScript, utilizing AJAX to update elements by calling a PHP script, which interfaces with a MySQL database without reloading the page.

Users can create an account; which will create a profile for the user to edit. Each profile includes an image, tagline, name, location, and all of the user’s posts.  Users with an account can make new posts, find friends to add (other Zucknet users), and like(cool)/dislike(lame)/comment on posts of friends or their own.

Features of Zucknet

  • Completely new and unique CMS framework
  • Computations happen primarily in JavaScript, reducing load on web servers
  • Simplified social networking (text posting only)
  • Interactivity between platform users
